Aliyah Sefarad International (ASI) since 2007, has been dedicated to educating the Hispanic communities, in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and cross the USA through history, genealogy and DNA regarding their descendancy as Sefardic Jews from Spain from the immigration of 1492.  ASI was the very first organization to bring the awareness of the official list of almost 6,000 Hispanic Surnames that are 100% descended from Sefardic Jews of Spain, to the island of Puerto Rico, through interviews on major Television and Radio News and Talk show programs, as well as articles in all the major newspapers of the island. In addition ASI has conducted live conferences on this important subject matter in the Caribbean and major US cities. Rabbi Gary Fernandez has been the President of ASI since it's incept in the year 2007. He is a sought after speaker regarding the Sefardic cause and appears regularly on many Television interviews helping to further this most important endeavor. In addition, Rabbi Fernandez is the official spokesperson to the Hispanic communities for EZRA International, an organization working side by side with the famous Jewish agency in Israel, helping to rescue the poorest Jews from the horrible anti-Semitism in 17 different countries, returning them to live in the Holy Land of Israel. Rabbi Fernandez is also the head rabbi of Synagogue Beth Israel in the city of Sanford, Florida for over 15 years. He is also a husband, father of 4 and grandfather of 2.
